Rooibos hot chocolate

A uniquely South African hot chocolate infused with rooibos tea for a warm and comforting drink with subtle earthy flavours.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 rooibos teabag
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1–2 tbsp sugar or honey
  • 1 tsp cornflour optional
  • Pinch of salt

To serve:

  • Marshmallows

Instructions
 

  • Heat milk in a saucepan until steaming.
  • Add rooibos teabag and steep for 5–7 minutes, then remove.
  • Whisk in cocoa powder, sugar (or honey) and cornflour.
  • Heat gently, stirring, until smooth and slightly thickened.
  • Add a pinch of salt.
  • Pour into a mug and top with marshmallows.

Notes

Use 50g chocolate instead of cocoa for a richer hot chocolate
