Hot Cross Bun Rice Krispy Treats

Indulge in the irresistible combination of sweet, chewy marshmallow goodness infused with the warm spices and fruity flavors of traditional hot cross buns. Perfect for Easter or any time you’re craving a delicious treat with a twist.

Ingredients

  • 150 grams Rice Krispies cereal
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted or salted butter
  • 285 grams easter marshmallows
  • Speckled eggs
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and all spice

Topping

  • 6 tbsp cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup icing sugar

Instructions
 

  • Add the marshmallows and butter to a bowl and microwave for *1 minute.
  • Mix until smooth and everything has melted.
  • Add the spices, *speckled eggs and krispies. Mix well.
  • Add to a greased tin and press down. Set aside until hard and cut into squares.
  • Mix the cream cheese and icing sugar and pipe lines onto the ‘buns’

Notes

  • I microwaved the mellows for 1 minute but times may vary. Do 30 second intervals
  • The speckled eggs I added to a food processor to get all the chocolate off.
  • I added 142g of easter mellows and 142g white mellows
