Ingredients
For the cupcakes
- 1 box NOMU MiniMakes Chocolate Cake Batter Mix *See notes
- 2 eggs
- ¼ cup oil
- ½ cup whiskey optional, you can use milk instead or a mixture of both
For the buttercream
- 150 g soft unsalted butter
- 330 g icing sugar
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
To decorate
- Chocolate shavings
- Cherry dessert topping
- Black cherries or cherries of choice
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 160˚C and prepare a cupcake tin with 12 paper liners.
- In a mixing bowl, beat the eggs, then mix in the oil and whiskey (or milk). Add the cake mix and mix thoroughly to form a smooth batter.
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cupcake liners.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean.
- Remove from the oven and allow the cupcakes to cool completely before icing.
- In a large bowl, whip the butter until smooth. Gradually add the icing sugar and cocoa powder
- Mix until the buttercream is smooth and creamy.
- Fill a piping bag fitted with your favorite nozzle with the chocolate buttercream. Pipe a generous amount of buttercream onto each cooled cupcake.
- Coat the bottom of the buttercream swirl with chocolate shavings. Add a spoonful of cherry dessert topping onto the top of the icing and finish with a fresh cherry.

- Any premix of 300g can be used
