This homemade cranberry sauce brings a delightful balance of sweetness and tartness, making it the perfect addition to any holiday meal. With just a few ingredients, you can whip up this festive favorite that pairs beautifully with savory dishes and adds a pop of color to your holiday table.
Course Sauce

Ingredients

  • 100 g dried cranberries
  • 200 ml water or apple juice for extra sweetness
  • 50 g sugar adjust to taste
  • 1 tbsp orange juice optional for extra flavor
  • Zest of ½ orange optional

Instructions

  • In a small saucepan, combine the dried cranberries and water (or apple juice). Let it sit for about 10-15 minutes to rehydrate.
  • Add the sugar and bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat. Stir occasionally to dissolve the sugar.
  • Lower the heat and let the mixture simmer for about 10-15 minutes, or until the cranberries are plump and soft, and the sauce has thickened.
  • Stir in the orange juice and zest for extra flavor. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed.
  • Remove from heat and let the sauce cool slightly before serving. In a blender or food processor blend the sauce so that the cranberries break up more.
  • Serve with pork fillet, gammon, brie appetizer or desserts
